Things to do

Qixingtan

A wide arc of dark pebbles, the Pacific in front, the mountains behind. Come for sunrise, and don't swim.

Qixingtan (七星潭) is the beach most visitors see first, just north of Hualien City and next to the airport. It is a curved bay of black pebbles formed along a fault line, with the Qingshui Cliffs visible up the coast. The county lists it as Hualien's only county-level scenic area.
